Common questions

Do I need a referral to see a hand surgeon?

No referral is required to consult Dr. Shilu Shrestha for hand, wrist, nerve, tendon or upper limb problems. If you have previous X-rays, MRI reports, prescriptions or discharge papers, bring them to your appointment.

How quickly can I get an appointment for a hand injury?

Routine consultations are usually arranged within a few days. Severe hand trauma, suspected tendon or nerve injury, infection, amputation or loss of blood flow should be treated as urgent. Call and explain the injury so the team can guide you.

What conditions are treated?

Hand and wrist fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, brachial plexus injuries, congenital hand differences, arthritis, infections, tumours, crush injuries, amputations and complex reconstructive microsurgery cases.

When is microsurgery needed?

Microsurgery repairs tiny blood vessels, nerves and delicate tissue under magnification. It may be needed for replantation, severe crush injuries, nerve reconstruction, free tissue transfer, and complex wounds where restoring circulation, sensation and function matters.

How long does recovery take after hand surgery?

It depends on the diagnosis, the operation and the rehabilitation needed. Minor procedures may allow light activity within days. Complex tendon, nerve, fracture or microsurgical reconstruction can need weeks to months of hand therapy and follow-up.

Where is the centre?
