Teaching and outreach

Closing the hand surgery gap in Nepal

Hand surgery is a small specialty and Nepal has few dedicated surgeons. Delayed diagnosis and under-treated injuries follow. Teaching, camps and public education are how Dr. Shrestha works on that.

Health camps

In 2021 Dr. Shrestha led the National Hand Surgery Awareness campaign across 50 health camps, and she has organised camps in remote districts.

Training surgeons

As Founding General Secretary of the Nepal Hand Surgery Society she created training places for young surgeons in Singapore, Japan and India.

Public education

Short videos on hand injuries, infection and arthritis, so patients know when to seek care and what to do first.
